We came to Tanzania without a clear idea of what we wanted—just a sense that it should be meaningful, memorable, and worthy of celebrating some major family milestones. They didn’t just drive us from place to place; they brought Tanzania alive for us.

This journey was originally inspired by several family milestones—an 80th birthday, a 50th birthday and 20th wedding anniversary, 25th birthdays, and a 13th birthday—and thanks to Safari Atelier, it became the kind of celebration none of us will ever forget.

My son and I were meant to leave for Tanzania within a few days of the pandemic shutting down the world. We waited a year and a half to be able to make the trip, and I felt happy every moment of each day thanks to Eszter, Malaki (our tour guide) and the people, animals, and landscapes of Tanzania. Where does one begin when planning a safari in Africa. All we knew was we wanted to experience the animals in their natural habitat and feel immersed in the culture of wonder of the place.  Eszter and Safari Atelier were the perfect partners to help navigate what could have felt like an overwhelming experience.  Coordinating plans for a group of 10 people is not easy.  Eszter was patient and knowledgeable in planning a memorable and magical trip, even adjusting our itinerary when we had to shift the dates.  Once in Tanzania, she and Safari Atelier checked in on us throughout the trip to ensure everything was going smoothly 

From the beginning, she worked with us to understand our interests, budget, and provided us multiple options for various camps and experiences.  She communicated details about each camp/lodge to help us think through which option would best match our interests We asked lots of questions and she was patient and guided us towards a mix of experiences that would offer us a balance of luxury and authenticity. She made suggestions about activities but encouraged us to work closely with our guides while there to tailor the trip in real time to what we were looking for. 

All of the camps were wonderful in their own way what stood out most was the hospitality and service from the staff at each lodge.  They made you feel right at home, even while wild animals were living just a few feet away.  The accommodations were what we had hoped they would be.

Lastly, our guides were perfect, blending detailed knowledge of the animals, terrain and Maasai people with warmth, humor and a genuine interest in knowing us as people and tailoring our experience to our specific interests.

I would highly recommend using Eszter and her team to explore this beautiful country.  Her services feel bespoke and it is clear she is passionate about Tanzania, has an eye for detail and design, and offers terrific client service to provide the most personalized experience.

Our experience with Safari Atelier was top notch. From the minute we arrived in Arusha, Eszter assured we were treated well. Our driver and city guide had a comfortable, spacious vehicle to transport us to our lodge and to drive us on our city tour the next day. He was knowledgeable and readily shared his culture with us. The Katambunga Lodge was in a beautiful setting with luscious gardens and a pool overlooking Mount Meru. We were treated to gourmet meals, and a chef who made sure I had delicious, gluten-free options. Transport to our charter Grumeti flight was smooth, and in an hour or so we arrived at the Grumeti Reserve and Singita's Faru Faru Lodge. After a great 4 days there, our charter delivered us back. When there were problems with our flights out of the country (for which Eszter was not responsible), she stepped in to help us resolve scheduling issues and get us where we needed to go. We would not hesitate to book with her again!

Generally speaking, we had the absolute trip of a lifetime and thank you so much for the impeccable planning, communication throughout the trip and your thoughtfulness at each stage. In terms of accommodation Taasa and Mpingo were particularly stunning. Elia and Malaki were also fantastic (as well as all of the guides at Taasa). They were friendly, knowledgeable and so kind. We also thought that adding Zanzibar at the end of the trip was the right move and lovely way to fully relax after being on the go. And as far as the actual Safari, it truly was the trip of a lifetime! It was everything Jeff and I could have hoped for. Singita and the Faru Faru camp, were spectacular, and I do not use that term lightly. The commitment to Conservation was what attracted us to Singita. And we enjoyed getting to meet the future environmentalists at the School. Their research center is first class and such a lovely structure.

As far as the camp, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of all the spaces, the attention to detail, the sincere warmth and excellent service of the staff, the quality of every item from the food to the yoga mats, and don’t forget the amazing massage.

I, for one, will not forget all the beautiful wonderful animals we saw, but the night we got to watch the 3 Lionesses hunting was one of the most amazing nights of my life.

I heartily recommend Safari Atelier to everyone.
